Terceiro livro da série LINER BOOKS, dedicado ao paquete inglês QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 da companhia Cunard Line (1969-2008). 

Tal com os restantes paquetes desta série o QE2 foi um dos navios de passageiros mais importantes do século XX, apresentando-se uma fotobiografia muito detalhada e completa, com a história deste navio e as suas caracteristicas técnicas. 

O QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 foi o último grande navio de passageiros saído dos estaleiros do rio Clyde, tal como os primeiros QUEENs, MARY e ELIZABETH, de 1936 e 1940, que o QE2 acabou por substituir na carreira Europa - Nova Iorque. Em paralelo o QE2 substituiu também o CARONIA de 1949 como navio de cruzeiros dado que a sua concepção apresentava a característica dupla de transatlântico e navio de cruzeiros. Esta versatilidade permitiu uma longa carreira de quase 40 anos contra os vaticínios mais pessimistas em 1968-69 quando se considerou que este QUEEN seria o último dos grandes navios de passageiros.

Third title in the LINER BOOKS series, RMS QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 of 1969 is now on its second revised edition. 

The QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 was the longest serving Cunarder ever, from April 1969 up to November 2008. Designed as dual purpose transtlantic liner and cruise ship, it was considered back in 1968 and 1969 that she would be the final great passenger ship ever built. Nothing could have been more wrong, in fact QE2 was so successful that in 2004 a much larer running mate would be introduced as the QUEEN MARY 2.

An easily readable book full of photographs and history as well as the ships' technical data.

In this presentation we have included images of the front cover and of several interior full frame colour photos, most of them publised on a book for the first time.

A book recomended to the many fans of the QE2 as well as to Cunard enthusiasts, with many photos of other Cunarders past and present including the mAURETANIA of 1939 in her later green cruising livery photographed in Lisbon.

O transatlântico holandês ROTTERDAM foi um dos mais bem sucedidos navios de passageiros de sempre. Construído em 1959 para a carreira Europa - Nova Iorque e para cruzeiros, foi o maior navio de passageiros da Holland America Line construído a seguir à segunda guerra mundial. As suas características modernas e equilibradas possibilitaram uma carreira de sucesso como navio de linha e, após 1970, como paquete de cruzeiros, sem que tivesse sido necessária qualquer conversão. Este navio, o quinto com este nome a integrar a frota da HAL, foi vendido em 1997 passando a chamar-se REMBRANDT, ao serviço da Premier Cruises, que faliu em 2000. O ROTTERDAM foi depois salvo da sucata e preservado no porto de Roterdão, onde se encontra actualmente.

Illustrated monography of the world famous passenger liner and cruise ship ROTTERDAM 1959-1997, it was the first book published by LINER BOOKS. A copy was presented to every one of the ROTTERDAM's passengers on her final cruise in 1997 prior to her sale to Premier Cruises. Considered one of the most successful pasenger liners and cruise ships of the post war period, the ROTTERDAM is now preserved in the port of Rotterdam as a museum and hotel ship.

O paquete inglês CANBERRA da companhia P&O foi um dos mais importantes navios de passageiros do século XX e o último construído em Belfast pelo estaleiro Harland & Wolff. Destinou-se à carreira Inglaterra - Austrália e Pacífico mas acabou por ser utilizado em cruzeiros durante a maior parte dos seus 36 anos de actividade, pois foi vendido para sucata em 1997 e desmantelado no Paquistão. Este livro é uma monografia dedicada ao CANBERRA, publicada por ocasião da retirada do paquete de serviço. Os textos, com a história e características do navio, são em inglês e o CANBERRA é apresentado fisicamente através de fotografias e desenhos. Primeiro livro da colecção LINER BOOKS, concebida em Lisboa por Luís Miguel Correia, com a colaboração de Bill Miller em Nova Iorque.

SS CANBERRA of 1961 was the first book to be published in the LINER BOOKS series created by Luís Miguel Correia in Lisbon in co-authorship with Bill Miller in New York. It was dedicated to one of the best passenger liners of the twentieth century, one of the more famous flagships in the long history of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company, under whose ownership she operated for 36 years, firs as a liner on the UK - Australia run and from 1973 onwards until sold for scrap in October 1997. The book covers the history and main data of CANBERRA and is fully illustrated.
